    keep an eye out

    Hi

We might keep an eye out for each other.

--- Does it mean they might take care of each other?

    Thanks

If you say, 'Look out for each other', it can mean take care of each other.

Yes, you can say it in that sense as well. It's really the sort of thing friends might say to each other.

It seems the band U2 used that exact phrase in their book about themselves.

PS. With apologies to svartnik, who gave the very useful dictionary definition.

    Hi
Yeah, I've just read it. BTW: what does he mean by saying: "With the exception of Carlos Santana, a bunch of extras from the Seventies,"

    Re: keep an eye out

Just for reference, this is a fuller quotation:

I was very thrilled to be in his company, and indeed Van's. They were the two masters, and I was the student. However, student or not, I was still appalled by Dylan's band and I told him so. "With the exception of Carlos Santana, a bunch of extras from the Seventies," I think was the phrased I used.

Bono is saying that in Dylan's band everyone except Carlos Santana played like a cheap hire-out stuck in the musical styles of the 1970's.

This is what normal conversation can sound like: a lot of fluff gets omitted.

Do not use this idiom in that sense. It means something else.

No offence abaka, but you seem to use a different variant of English than me.

That's a different conversation, but the original post had "everyone have". When I copied it in my response, I marked the error in red. Then the original post was edited to say "everyone has", probably to correct a simple typo. As you can see if you read that topic from start to finish, I have already been given hell by another participant. Since I didn't realize immediately what was going on (that the original post had been edited), I attempted to justify myself at first, and wound up looking even more foolish.
