    Re: rephrasing pls help

This is obviously an exercise in idioms, not grammar:

1.I've just noticed that the car has almost run out of petrol. HARDLY

I've just noticed the car has hardly any petrol left. **

[** idiomatic in N. America if "petrol" is replaced by "gas". If the British usage is different, I stand corrected. The word "petrol" is rare in Canada and the USA. ]

2.I didn't know that cars were so expensive in this country. IDEA

I had no idea that cars were so expensive in this country.

3.Don't get depressed because of such a small problem. LET

Don't let such a small problem depress you.

4.It is reported that he is now recovering in hospital. RECOVERY

It is reported that he is on his way to recovery in hospital.

5.Laura`s teacher says that she doesn't have a serious enough attitude to her work. SERIOUSLY

Laura's teacher says that she doesn't take her work seriously enough.

6.He lost his job because he couldn't do what was required. INABILITY

He lost his job because of his inability to do what was required.

7.I haven`t got the energy to argue with you. BOTHERED

I can't be bothered to argue with you.

    8.What`s confusing you so much?LOT

What is it that's confusing you a lot? **

["What is confusing you a lot" seems possible but I don't think it's as good. If the sentence starts with "what is confusing", the "so much" seems more idiomatic.]
