    Appositive function as adjective?

    Dear all,
I have a problem concerning the following sentences:

    1. My uncle, who is the manager of that company, is so rich.
    2. My uncle, the manager of that company, is so rich.

    * Sentence 1 is written using adjective clause, while 2 using appositive clause.

    * The appositive in sentence 2 is the reduction of the adjective clause, which function as an adjective, in sentence number 1.

    * Question: Can we say that the appositive in sentence 2 functions as an adjective?
    * Question: Can we call the above adjective clause as an appositive clause?

Please, I really need help with this. Thanks before hand...

    Re: Appositive function as adjective?

Can we say that the appositive in sentence 2 functions as an adjective? I'd say yes, since the appositive clause modifies the noun. But that may be a "teacher's call". :)

Can we call the above adjective clause as an appositive clause? NO. In an apposition, the two elements should be of the same type: both nouns.
