    Re: what does this indicate

If a poem has no commas or periods or apostrophes or such
Then maybe it is a poem that doesn't amount to much

    Note:
The word "punctuation" is a noncount noun. You cannot have two or more punctuations.

I mean that this indicates something about the poet and his/her psyche.
    so what is it?
(is the use of the word "psyche" here correct?)

    Re: what does this indicate

The style of writing poetry without punctuation or capitalization is most famously attributed to E. E. Cummings E. E. Cummings - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Entire forests have been sacrificed for the paper used by earnest students who have tried to define the exact effect that Cummings wanted to convey to the reader. Think of the effect that this style had on you as a reader, then support that idea with evidence from the texts.

Poetry does not contain direct indications. The absence of punctuation only indicates that the author did not include punctuation. It is up to you, the reader, to decide for yourself why the author chose not to use punctuation. This question can be answered by ten different readers in ten different ways, and they can all be correct.

Maybe getting you to think about the absence of punctuation is one of the things that the author wanted to accomplish.

    Re: what does this indicate

Poetry is meant for the ear more than the eye. Read some of e.e.cummings's work aloud and see what you come up with.
