    Smile meaning

"Is there an ideal combination for marriage?" Both at work and in personal relationships, she said, people seem to get along best when they repeat the patterns of childhood, which means that it helps to marry someone in complementary position.
What is meaning of the underlined part?
    Thanks

Basically it is saying that in order for a marriage to work, couples need to repeat the lives or familiar routines that they had as a child. So if your partner comes from a very different backgroud/culture/economic status...it is saying that the marriage might not work. So repeating the patterns of childhood means simply doing what you did as a child, but now as an adult.

    Hope that helps.
