    "hung the moon"

Please help me with the IDIOM "HUNG THE MOON" which is probably one of my favorite expressions. Should I say 'He hungS the moon' or 'he hung the moon' as I have seen hundred of times everywhere? If so, why doesn't the verb follow the rule of third person singular?

Thank you very much for your helping. I really appreciate it!

CAN I USE IN THE PRESENT? "I LOVE HIM BECAUSE HE HANGS THE MOON"... ?

Ron, thanks for your reply. Can I use this expression in the present tense? Can I say "He HANGS the moon and this is why I love him" ?
I'm so confused... Please give me some examples.

    Thanks a bunch!

I have never met this expression. It sounds like a recently created phrase.

Oh, this is a very common idiom! I have never seen it on the present tense though, and this is what is confusing me....

I beg to differ. I have never seen or heard it. Please give your sources.

    Hi Cybeles,

There is a link which probably will be of little use for you.
