    In English, "mode" refers simply to any one of several possible states something might take.

    "Fashion" or "trend" among other senses commonly mean the currently prevailing style of dress and behaviour.

    "Mode" is sometimes used in its French meaning of "fashion", but quite rarely. Outside the fashion industry, at least.
