    Probably not. "A cruder form of nonsense", perhaps?

    Although it's probably better to spell out the vilest obscenities rather than to write then with ellipses or dashes.

    The word itself is just fine in any setting. A kid could say it and not get in trouble. The question is, should a teacher be saying "I don't believe you - you're lying" to a student?

    If the teacher wants to say that something else is utterly untrue, then if the teacher said "And that theory is just baloney" then it's fine.
