    Which is correct between the two?
    1.My students' parents do work for the sake of their families.

    or

    2.My students' parents do work for the sake of their family.

    please explain!!!!

    Either. I would say "families", but there are logical arguments for both "family" and "families". But I can discern no real difference in meaning between the two. Pick the one you're more comfortable with.

    If there is more than one family involved I would say their families.
