I'm confused about the use of dash. Is the sentence below correct.Now, I have figured out for what that the 2 points was deserved — that would be trying to give an answer, and build a connection.

Anyway, a dash is often a rather informal punctuation mark. I use it too often myself. It can be used in place of a colon as with this sentence, or to show a change in the direction of the thought, or as a casual way to link two thoughts that are related. They can also be used the way parentheses or commas can set off a non-essential portion of the sentence.
