    Question hiding/hidden

"The frog sits quietly, hidden in the grass, waiting for his next victim."

Can we use hiding instead of hidding in the sentence above?

What's the difference between hiding and hidden?

    Thank you very much!

    Yes.

What's the difference between hiding and hidden?

Hiding is a verb, it's something that a person or animal is doing. You might be hiding yourself, or you might be hiding something - money, chocolate, a mistake. I am hiding [myself] in the closet. I am hiding the key under the rug.

Hidden is an adjective, it describes something or someone: a hidden key, a hidden present, a hidden meaning.

A hidden key is not hiding, because keys don't
do things. Someone had to hide the key. A key can't hide itself - so it can't be hiding.

    Thank you very much!

    Re: hiding/hidden

    Thank you!

I understood the differences between hiding and hidden.

Although there are differences between them, you said we could replace hidden for hiding in the sentence. Then, are you saying that the sentences below have the same meaning?

"The frog sits quietly, hidden in the grass, waiting for his next victim."
"The frog sits quietly, hiding in the grass, waiting for his next victim."

Thank you for your great help!
