    Hello,
    PLZ tell me the difference between these lines. Tell the situation in which we should use line instead of another one. Tell me the meanings of both, TELL ME WHICH ONE IS CORRECT.

    1.........I HAD PROMISED U,,,,,,,,,,,,I PROMISED U.

    2........I HAD WORKED THERE,,,,,,,,,,,I WORKED THERE.

    3........WHAT HAD HAPPENED YOU LAST NIGHT,,,,,,,,
    WHAT HAPPENED U LAST NIGHT.
    4........I HAD WAITED FOR U FOR 1 HR,,,,,,,,,,I WAITED FOR U 1 HR.

    5.......U FULLFILLED YOUR DUTY SO WONDERFULLY,,,,,,,,
    U HAD FULLFILLED YOUR DUTY SO WONDERFULLY,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

    All the examples are the same. They all show the same two verb forms, or tenses.

    I worked is in the simple past tense. It means you worked in the past.

    I had worked is in the past perfect tense. It means you worked up until a certain time when another past action happened.

    I had worked at the call center for ten years before I got the job of my dreams.

    I had promised to marry you, but then I discovered you were already married.

    [I edit copy and have tutored college writing.]

    Hello,
    You mentioned that we use the past perfact for an action taken until a certain time when another past action happened.
    But can we only say : 1...........i had worked there, Instead of i worked there.
    2............I had promised to marry you,
