    The hyperbole in this essay?

This is an essay called The Plot Against People by Russell Baker: http://srs-pr.com/plot.pdf

I know what hyperbole is, but I have trouble picking up the hyperboles in this essay. Can someone please give me an example/hint/or just anything at all? (I'm supposed to find at least 3 or 4 examples)

Re: The hyperbole in this essay?

You are looking for over exaggerated claims. So for example, when he refers to common objects getting lost with "Keys have been known to burrow three feet under mattresses." it is for effect. Although keys may be kicked under the bed, the idea of them deliberately burrowing down to avoid detection provides amusement and emphasizes the point he is trying to make.
