    important to / for?

Do we say important to or important for? What's the difference? Like healthy diet is important to or for your health?

    ...important for your health.

''Important to'' presents a personal emotional significance. She's very important to me.
''Important for'' conveys some instrumental quality, something that in its effect leads to something else. It's important for a purpose. It's very important for me to understand the difference.
