    capture, pick up

    Hello everyone

I'd like to ask about some words in the following context:

XXX has also pioneered in the CIS region a set of gender-responsive development indicators, harmonized to capture both national priorities and international commitments to gender equality, such are those in the Beijing Platform for Action, Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (CEDAW) and Millennium Development Goals. The indicators have been picked up by other countries of the CIS region.

    What does "capture" mean here?
And does "pick up" mean "adopt" in this context?

XXX is the name of a country.

What does "capture" mean here? bring out, reveal, isolate, identify, show, make apparent, draw out, tease out, flush out...
And does "pick up" mean "adopt" in this context? Yes.

    Re: capture, pick up

One way to understand the use of 'capture' in this sense is to think of the way it is used in referring to a photograph:

'I was able to capture each of the important landmarks in one shot.'

'The photo captured the essence of street life in the city.'

In other words, 'capture' in this sense means 'wholly include.'

    I hope this is helpful,

    Petra
