    Re: article

I am assuming that "Max" is the name of the child.

No, there is no article needed in your ssample sentence.

    See these examples:

Max is a five year old boy.
Max, a five year old boy from Ireland, is very active.
Five year old Max is very active.

    Re: article

No. Max is a person's name. Those don't get articles, except very occasionally in American college boy slang: The Max. The Todd. The Justin.

American college boys who do it are generally considered stupid by Americans who are not college boys.

    Re: article

Well, sometimes the names of persons do get articles (without any change of meaning of the noun itself).
e.g. Walking out of the house I ran into an angry Agatha.
The beautiful Irene had a lot of admirers.

I just wanted to check whether 'five-year-old' should be regarded as a descriptive attribute.

If you had a group of children of different ages that you didn't know very well, it is possible that you might say to a colleague, 'The five year old, Max, wants a glass of milk.

I see. B. above is right, as usual. It is descriptive, and the would be okay but, except in the kind of situation B. describes, unneeded.

Or should I say, "The B."?

Just B is fine, Bhaisahab is Hindi, it means 'older brother', I 'earned' it when I lived and worked in India.
