    meaning

A woman buys a radio at an electrical store. She can't get it to work because the batteries are the wrong way around.
What is the meaning of the underlined parts?
    Thanks

She can't get it to work (the radio doesn't work for her) because the batteries are the wrong way around. (put in the wrong way; that is one or more of them are put in backwards or upside down)

    thanks
