    never had/had never had

Jane leaped into the air as the ballerinas which she had seen on television did. As she had never had/'never had any training in ballet, she twisted her ankle on landing.

Should it be 'had never had' or 'never had'?

    Many thanks.

    Re: never had/had never had

I will opt for 'had never had' as we use past perfect tense to say some action that happenned before another action.
