    Smile fringe

    Democrats claim those Republican governors who turn down money from the federal stimulus package are "fringe" Republicans eager to score political points. The head of the Republican governors says the Democrats are out of touch.

    It's an excerpt from the news, I don't understand the 'fringe' here. Does it mean radical? And 'out of touch'? I always hear it after the campaign began. Does it mean unaware of the reality? Thank you.

    Yes. And it's interesting that the party that just experienced its most crushing defeat in history is calling the other party "out of touch"!
