No, that he was made a citizen of the country, with all the benefits that will bring - a passport, social security etc.

    Hi

So is there any difference between "freeman" and "citizen" of Bosnia. I've always thought you can make someone a citizen/freeman of a city/town, not a country?

    Thanks

A "freeman" has certain rights within a town, such as pasturing his beasts on the town green, or being able to take a flock of sheep along the streets.

I recall that a freeman of the city of London has the right to drive a herd of sheep over Westminster bridge. That should go down well with the motorists.

I am not a freeman, but I am told I am a free man. I certainly dont think I am bonded peasant. But then again, perhaps I am, what else is a mortgage. Perhaps us serfs should acquire some sheep and demand equality.
