    place adverbial

    Could one say:

1-I saw the planes in the garden.

2-I saw the planes, in the garden.

If I was in the garden and the planes were in the sky?

    That is some question!

If you saw the planes in the sky while in the garden, you might shift the adverbial into the frontal position to avoid ambiguity:
In the garden, I saw the planes.

Thanks. But are you sure that that sentence is unambiguous?

On the landing strip, I saw the planes ready to take off.
