I'm supposed to work means I should work or I must work?
Yup. It can mean expected to or required to.
I'm supposed to be in court that day.
She's supposed to do her homework first.
Using it in the past tense:
It was supposed to rain Tuesday, but it was sunny all day.
He was supposed to leave it at my office, so I'll look for it there.
