Look down the column at the left side of the screen, and Click on Grammar Glossary. Find the parts of grammar you are interested in, and Click.

first, say an adverb, an adjective and a verb.

an adverb is a word which describes the verb.

adverbs: fast , happily, quickly, dangerously.

e.g: he drives fast. in this sentence, fast describes the verb drives, and if you ask a question, how does he drive?, the answer will be 'fast'

e.g: she speaks loudly. how does she speak? loudly.
loudly describes the action of speaking.

an adjective is a word which describes the noun.

adjectives: beautiful , courageous , skillful.

Sara is a beautiful girl. 'beautiful' describes Sara.

he is a skillful tennis player. skillful describes the pronoun 'he'

pronouns and nouns are just alike. pronouns substitue nouns.

I am not criticising hockeygirl, but criticising our Canadian system of so-called education. It seems that the very basics of grammar have not been taught to this (presumably) young person.

I know that I was appalled when my children were in school that their spelling and grammar were definitely not up to what I thought they should have been.

P.S. fastly is incorrect. He drives fast, then he drives quickly, or faster. Not fastly.

    I am not a teacher.
