    I am wondering if.........

    How are you?

Is there a difference between (1) and (2)?
    (1) My mom will be upset if I'm late
    (2) My mom will be angry if I'm late

There could be a difference. On the other hand, there is a possibility that you are describing the same behavior in either case. In that case there is hardly any difference between the two.
