    When to use a comma

I would write the below normally but I'm not sure why. I can't seem to find the rule(s), or more likely I'm not looking it up correctly. Are the below correct? If not, I'll be glad to read and learn the rule if you'll point me in the right direction. Any help is appreciated.

    • Thank you, Todd.
    • Good job, Todd!
    • You're a good friend, friend.
    • Richard, did you call Tom?
    • How have you been, Richard?

    Thanks in advance,

    SR

Commas are used in direct address to set off the name of the person being spoken to.
