A,' I had a baby.'
I heard this from an American movie. I wonder why it is not "I have a baby"? Please.
I can see your confusion. "I had a baby", would seem to indicate that she had possession, but no longer does. Whereas "I have a baby" indicates ongoing possession. However "I had a baby" does not refer to possession, but to the act of giving birth, which is clearly not ongoing. Thus the speaker is not indicating the loss of possession of said baby.
