    Far-fetching

At first sight, it is difficult for me to guess that the meaning of "far-fetching" is "unlikely to be true or to happen".
I would like to know where and when this expression comes from, and how it is used. Thanks.

    Hi Deepurple,

Yes, you are right. Far-fetched means something that is unlikely or unbelievable. Check out the links for further background.
