    It depends. It can mean 'I agree' or it can mean 'I'm listening to you. Carry on. This is interesting. I might agree eventually' or it might mean 'Oh, so that's what you think is it?     ps: I was thinking about the sound /mhm/, when used in an actual chat. If you're talking about "MHM" when used in a chat-room*, try Googling for a list of acronyms used in ICT.

    *I don't know whether this exists, but it might mean something like 'Might Help Maybe' or 'My Humble Memory' or something.
