    I wonder

    I understand that 'I wonder where you have been' is a reported question so the word order should be direct, however I don't know why I have doubts that it's correct in this particular sentence. Should it be:
    I wonder where you have been.
    or
    I wonder, where have you been?

    HI Clark, if you say:

    I wonder: "Where have you been?" , which is what you are doing in your second example, really, the question is direct.
