Would you tell me your preference?

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me your preference for one of the following three questions?

    What time is it?
    What is the time?
    Do you have the time?

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

    They're all good.

What time is it? This is how you ask someone you're with.

What is the time? This is also for people you're with, and it's fine but not as common.

Also common: -Do you know what time it is?

Do you have the time? This is also fine, and it's especially good for asking a stranger. If you're asking a stranger, say "Excuse me" first.

Also common when asking a stranger:

-Excuse me. Can you tell me the time?
-Excuse me. Do you know what time it is?
-Excuse me. Do you know the time?

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.
    You're welcome!
