    allocation of units

A singer says: I may have misjudged my allocation of units the night before. I had this idea of writing about the temporal nature of being, but setting it in a hangover gives it some comedy and earthiness that balances the philosophical pretensions.

--- I'd like to ask about "allocation of units" and "setting it in a hangover". Is it possible that the first one says that last night he spent in the wrong place, probably in a bar, (drinking)? And then he tried to write a song when he had a hangover?

    Re: allocation of units

units- the measure used by doctors, etc, in the UK for alcohol when trying to persuade us to drink less, so it's just a rather laboured way of saying he drank too much. You can get the full details here: Unit of alcohol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
