    Dummy Subject

    Can you elaborate on that?

Is "that" a dummy subject in this sentence?
    I hope I am right!

    Re: Dummy Subject

The word[s] "that" is a pronoun in sentence (1); a conjunction in sentence (2); a relative pronoun in sentence (3); a demonstrative determiner in sentence (4); and an adverb in sentence (5).

    (1) Is that your bike?
    (2) We know that you did it./We're sure that he did it/The idea that you would think such a thing shocks me.
    (3) This is the house that Jack built.
    (4) That dog is mean.
    (5) I can't run that fast.

No, it has semantic content that is in the shared knowledge of the speaker and the hearer. By the way, the subject in the sentence is not 'that'. It is 'you'.

    You can elaborate on that.
    Can you...?
'that' is the object of the prepositional verb (depend on).

1: Do you know them? "you" = subject "it has semantic content that is in the shared knowledge of the speaker and the hearer"
Like how you did in your example = you do know them, do you?

2: I consider him a genius. "him" = dummy subject, who is him?
    *him I consider a genius,do him?

I hope I am right this time?

    dummy means empty
Is "him" empty? No! "him" refers to somebody that only the speaker and the hearer knows, but not the reader (you and I).

    What I understand is:
    It is a hot day.
It is difficult for everyone to master English.
It is kind of you to help us.
It is worth reading this book.
It takes me five minutes to go to shcool.
There are three persons in my family.
There developed goodwill between the two countries.
The bold words are dummy subjects.
