The following sentences are talking about the disadvantages of using techniques in writing and I am not sure what the red part means. Can you help me?
Unfortunately, advanced technology now allows the writer the luxury of countless editings; a temptation many writers find hard to resist. So, a passage , endlessly reworked may end up nothing remotly like the original and completely out of place when compared with the rest of the text.
no where near in meaning = remotely
It means not at all similar, not even close.
I am still confused. What does the red part mean?
It means it will be very wrong, in that context.
Over-editing of a passage within a written document can result in it becoming no where near its original meaning.
