    difference btwn 'it' and 'that'

How do you do it?/How do you do that?
    It's wonderful./That's wonderful.
    I like it./I like that.

In cases like above, how do 'it' and 'that' differ in meaning?
    Thank you.

Fantastic observation of the subtleties of the language!

    This one will stretch us.

What you're asking I believe is quite irrelevant.
I thought this place was to get answers not a place to be tested.
    I'll try elsewhere.

Re: difference btwn 'it' and 'that'

To understand the difference, not only objectively, but as a native speaker subjectively understands the difference between "I like it./I like that." and similar, I needed to see if this understanding was present with 'this/that'; else I had some preliminary explaining to do.

My style of explaining apparently does not mesh with your learning style.

I leave this thread to others.
