% or per cent in UK English?

    Hello,
do you use to write symbol % or words "per cent" in written UK English? For example: 20 % of population, or 20 per cent of population?
If you use the symbol, does any binding rule exist wether to make a space between the numeral and the symbol?

    Thanks for an advice,

    Marketa.

    Generally no space.

When spelled out, I prefer the two words, not the conflated one word.
