    Do you know how much the bill has come to?

    I wonder if the sentence above can be rewritten like this: "Do you know how much the bill is/was".

    Not only 'Yes', but I think the use of the Present tense in this context is probably more appropriate than the Present Perfect version.

    Can anyone think of a context (extra words, or by adding another sentence) where the Present Perfect really is required and doesn't sound very odd?
