    In a bid

    1) I am practising in making sentences with 'in a bid'. Are my following sentences OK?

    a) In a bid to lure tourist, the tour fee has been slashed to 30% off.

    b) In a bid to well-equipped myself in low cost during the period of booming unemployment, I ought to upgrade my English competency
    through the home-studied course.

    2) What are the differenes between :

    a) 'in a bid'
    b) 'to bid' '
    c) in order to'
    d) 'so as to'
