    fly-tipping

"The authority claimed yesterday large-scale fly-tipping incidents have fallen from a high in 2006, but there is a new trend of samll-scale and sporadic curbside dumping."

May I know what does it mean of fly-tipping here?

    Dear ju:

fly-tipping = illegal dumping, usually by individuals. 'Tipping' = dumping and 'fly' is short for 'on the fly' (on the run, quickly, without stopping).

    Best wishes,

    Petra
