    Correct OR Correctly?

I posed the following question to a few co-workers and most said that option 2 was the appropriate choice but I am stubborn so please convince me so I can stop acting like a 5 year old :)

Which of the follow sentences is correct?

    1. I checked out the mod 3 and 4 on the website and if I am getting it correct, then the mod 3 and 4 are basically the same units.

    OR

    2. I checked out the mod 3 and 4 on the website and if I am getting it correctly, then the mod 3 and 4 are basically the same units.

I realize the sentences are a bit awkward in the first place but humour me. Thank you.

    Re: Correct OR Correctly?

    You're a New Yorker now.
No fancy slick talk trying to convince you - convince yourself:
'correct' is an adjective, and an adjective...
...is a word or phrase naming an attribute, grammatically related to a noun to modify or describe it.

"...and if I am getting it correct..."
Where's the noun that 'correct' is modifying?

An adverb is a word that modifies or qualifies an adjective, verb, or other adverb or a word-group:
"...and if I am getting it correct..."
I see a conjunction, a preposition, a verb, an impersonal pronoun, and 'correct'.
    I don't see a noun, but I see a verb.

Try changing correct and correctly with right - you'll put yourself in a 'more' neutral position.

Oh poo! I bloody hate being wrong! Thanks for the help!

Oh and I did try subsituting "right" but it just convinced me further that it should have been "correct" not "correctly"
