    baby name

Hi.. i'm wondering if anyone can help me with a little family debate. I am currently pregnant with my second child, a girl. The name i would like to give her has an unusual spelling but i like it cause it is unique. The name is "Mayhgen" which i pronounce like the common name Magen. I believe the H is silent but everyone else insist on making fun of the name.

Can someone please tell me how you wouldprononce this name in the spelling I like "Mayhgen"?

    Thank you very much.

I'd either say may-gun or pronmounce it like Megan, as it is similar to one of the variants spellings of that name: Behind the Name: Meaning, Origin and History of the Name Meghan

    Re: baby name

As a person living in an English speaking country who always has to spell her name, I am definitely not a big fan of unusual spellings. Both mine and my husband's names are common in Germany, but not here, so when it came time to choose our children's names we went for some that EVERYONE here knows how to spell.

However, I think I am in the minority, and you should be able to name your child whatever you feel is nice, and tell the family to pick their children's names, not yours. They will get used to it.

    Re: baby name

P.S. I tried to edit, but it seems that I can't. I would pronounce it like Meagan.
