    pronunciation of chemistry

    Hello,
If I'm not wrong the word chemistry is pronounced as:
    /kemɪstrɪ/ and
    /tʃemɪstrɪ/

which one is American, which one is British? Also, would either pronunciation
be correct in compounds such as cryochemistry, biochemical?

p.s. if both pronunciations correct, which dictionary gives both pronunciation, I couldn't find any so far.

    Thank you in advance.

    hi soup,
    thank you for your answer
but I'm 100% sure I've heard people (native speakers) say /tʃemɪstrɪ/
    I'm confused..
especially for cryochemistry pronunciation in babylon is with /tʃ/
(I know the first link you gave)
Can /tʃ/ be colloquial use of british english like tuesday 'cos especially in birmingham region people say /tʃu:zdı/ ?

But ... I'm not a native British English speaker. I am Canadian, so I can tell you the North American pronunciation only. Sorry.

soup thank you for the reply,
I just wondered have you ever heard the other option, that's all

(someone insits that the /tʃ/ option is definitely wrong, that's why I asked)

I have never come across the second option, which seems all wrong. Can you provide context for it? Where did you hear it and who used it?
