    Red face Mother needs help.

It has been many years since I attended school and today my six year old has come home with a paper on nouns. Can anyone please remind me what is the difference between a noun & a verb. I would be grateful for any assistance.

A noun is a word like table, or chalk, or schoolgirl that is used to refer to a thing or person. Nouns are one of the seven word classes or parts of speech, if you like.

A verb is a word such as sing, feel, or play that is used with a subject to say what someone or something does or what happens to them, or to give information about them. Verbs are also one of the seven word classes or parts of speech.
