    All systems are go

    Dear teachers and friends...

Could it shed some light on this?

    All systems are go?

instead of 'go', should it not be 'going'? if not, what's it mean?

    Thanks

    Re: All systems are go

    It's idiomatic.

It means all the systems are ready to do whatever needs to happen.

If you had a green light to show it was okay and a red light to show a problem, all the lights are green.

In space programs, you'll hear "we are 'go' for launch" - everyone is reporting all systems are go.
