    Exclamation Sentence meaning

    Hello,

I have to explain the difference in meaning of two sentences. I know that there is a difference but I'm having a hard time putting it into words. So if someone could give me a hand it would be greatly appreciated. Here are the two sentences:

    1. If I get the job I will take it.

    2. If I got the job I would take it.

    Thanks in advance...

    Re: Sentence meaning

    1) means that you have really applied for the job and think that you may actually get it.
    2) means that you're discussing a hypothetical situation, and haven 't applied for any job.
