    I've been to / I've been in

Often people say: "I've been to London, Spain" etc.
I've always been using the word "in" - "I've been in London".
I've heard people saying "IN London" as well.

When should I use "to" and when "in" then?

    I'm NOT a teacher,

    but let me guess:

I've been to London (before) - I was in London, in 2006, for example.
I've been in London (for x days) - I am in London now.

Can you say: " I've been in London" or ask " Have you been in London"?
