    Hello.

    YouTube - Barack Obama on Ellen: Balancing Family
    In this video, Mr. Obama says, "And the nice thing about if I'm president, I hear that they give you public housing."

    Is this sentence grammatical?
    Wouldn't it be better to say: "And the nice thing is that if I'm president..."?

    Yes, but he's speaking spontaneously ("off the cuff"). He would probably not say this in a prepared speech (I hope).
