Question Yet VS still... which to use in questions?

I have browsed on the Internet this question:

    Do you remember me yet?

And I have discovered that it is used heavily less than

    Do you still remember me?

But, was not yet to be used in questions and negative sentences?

The first question indicates that A and B have been trying to decide if they know one another - #A is sure he/she does, B is not so sure; the second indicates surprise that A remembers B after a break in acquaintanceship.

    Let me understand...

The first indicates that I am asking if we already met each other in past.

The second indicates that I am asking to the other one if he/she remembers me after a long time.

In such a circumstance, I'd rather ask Do you remember me now? (but I'm not a native English speaker, so I may be wrong).

Re: Yet VS still... which to use in questions?

"Yet" is indeed used in interrogative and negative contexts (and a few others). It may help to think of it in these contexts as corresponding to "already" in plain affirmative sentences.

If you want the meaning "still" in a negative or interrogative context, then the word you want is "still" ;). (It doesn't have these restrictions on which environment it can occur in.)

it depends on what you want to mean!
The use of "yet" and "still" can be very complicated; i will give the most common meanings.

do you remember me yet? the meaning is that you had forgotten who i am, and i am trying to help you remember who i am. After telling you some things about myself or about the time(s) we met before, i am asking if your memory of me has returned. It's the same meaning as engee30's "do you remember me now?"

do you still remember me? [or did you forget who i am?]
the most likely reason i am asking you if you still remember me is that it's been a very long time since we had a relationship and i think you may have forgotten who i am.
