    Are the two sentence interchangable?

    Hello, teachers:
Is the sentence : What is the season? interchangable with another sentence:
    What season is it?

Could you please confirm it for me?
    Thanks a lot!

    They mean the same.
"What season is it" is a better template sentence, since one usually says:
What day is it? What month is it? rather than What is the day?
Sometimes their is no preference either way:
What time is it? = What's the time?
