    I'm looking for a verb...

    Hi everybody,
I wonder if you could help me with this: What's the most common verb (either informal or slang) used in BrE that means the same as To Curse, or To Use Bad Language,...Say in a sentence like this: "He was drunken and kept ***ing the cops..." Thanks a lot...

    Abusing would be fine.

    'swearing at'

the meaning/sense of 'abuse' and 'abusing' has changed in recent years - don't use it when referring to swearing.

It may have changed, but you can't say I won't be understood if using the word abuse. Will I? Verbal abuse is still 'doing well' as far as I know.
