    What does "long-term" mean?

    long-term space
    long-term contract

    A long-term lease of a space for an office, would be for example for 10 years. A short-term would be monthly.

    Similarly a long-term contract is obviously for a long time. A short term contract could be for a specific job of a few weeks or months. When the job is done, the contract is void.

    "Long-term care" in a facility is for example in a nursing home. When a person cannot be in their own home any more because of either medical problems, or problems just of old age, they would be going into a long-term facility.
